Queer gardening group

A super safe space to learn about gardening and nature. This is a great group for people of all LGBTQ+ identities – especially if you’re into gardening, nature, food and the outdoors. The group is having a brief pause until the weather gets a little bit better but if you want to get involved now is still a good time. Give us a shout using contact@transitionedinburghsouth.org.uk if you’d like to find out more.

BASIC COOKING SKILLS COURSE

What we’ve been doing….

Winter warmer
We hosted a successful “Winter Warmer” event with our friends on 18th February which saw around 180 participants in attendance.
Workshops on regenerative practice
We created a series of workshops on regenerative practice in community gardens which is proving to be very successful with around 10 participants per session. We are likely to repeat that in the autumn. These are designed to share our experiences and to build bonds between community gardens in the peaceful environment of the Salisbury Centre.
Nourish Scotland
Our manager (Rob) and charity ambassador (Pat) attended the Nourish Scotland conference. Our focus is to share the great news of things that are happening in South Edinburgh that involve TES and build bonds with other groups.
SCVO Gathering
Our trustees are attending the SCVO Gathering - a great opportunity for learning.
Regular sessions
Our regular sessions - school groups, community meals, events, youth groups and training sessions have been very well attended. Watch our social media (Facebook and Instagram) for regular updates.
Youth groups
Our youth groups are going from strength to strength with great participation (despite the weather) and excellent feedback.
Kirsten's training sessions
Kirsten has started a new series of training sessions for adults on Wednesday mornings. They have gone well and we are going to recruit new participants for a second series. Email contact@transitionedinburghsouth.org.uk to register your interest in taking part. As well as a chance to gain some cooking skills they are an excellent place to meet people from your community.
Membership review
We are working towards a membership review.
New projects in development
We have two major projects in development - The Gracemount Stables renovation and the development of the community farm. These kind of projects take time at first, with lots of planning, consultations and paper-work but the end result will be two amazing community run projects in South Edinburgh. Get in touch if you'd like to know more or if you'd like to be involved.
ICF 3 year targets
We are now approaching the end of our ICF 3 year fund and I can say with confidence that we have delivered on our targets and far exceeded many of them.
