NEW WORKSHOPS: Regenerative Practice In Community Gardens

For anyone interested in community gardening

We’ll work together to develop our best practice in sharing our green spaces.

Join us for 6 winter mornings in the cosy environment of the Salisbury Centre. This series invites participants to slow down, listen, explore, and co-create a regenerative way of being.

Using ecological principles, shared dialogue, and embodied practices, we will explore how individuals and communities can thrive by connecting with each other and with the living world.

Each session blends conversation, experiential learning, and collective discovery. Over the 6 sessions our aim is to generate conversations that inspire best practice in community gardens.

Each week we’ll dig in to the principles of regeneration: not just in the soil but in ourselves and our communities. Expect stories, practical skills, reflection and a growing circle of people ready to learn together.

The sessions will be hosted by Richard and Rob from Transition Edinburgh South. Both have over twenty years experience of community gardening and regenerative practice.

The workshops will be inclusive and open to all. People of all ages and all backgrounds, experienced community gardeners and new community gardeners are all welcome.

Come with curiosity and leave with roots.

What we’ve been doing….

Christmas event
We had a great Christmas event with our partners - GMDT and The Scran Academy. 250 people attended and the feedback was incredibly positive.
Event planning
Dates for new events have been set for February, April, June and August, details to follow on our social media channels.
Proposals submitted
We have submitted proposals to the Edinburgh Regenerative Futures Fund along with friends from GMDT, The Scran Academy and Edinburgh Community Food. If these are accepted we'll be able to move forward with our development projects in the stables and at a community farm near the Royal Infirmary.
Queer gardening
The Queer gardening group has been reinvigorated with our very hardworking sessional worker Jim pushing it forward.
Garden shelter
We now have a big shelter in the garden which we can use for events. People can feel free to use it at other times too as a nice place to sit and enjoy the garden. It is there to share and enjoy.
After-school sessions
Rita and Bara and friends from Trees and Seas are having a great time in our extended after school sessions. Our regenerative approach works when given time. We are willows not oaks. We offer trust and respect to the young people who come to our sessions and they gradually pay it back.We embed our selves in the community, we are part of the community - all the grand schemes grow from there. (Great Oaks from mighty acorns grow? *or* Great oafs from little infants grow?)
Shed for medical practice
The shed has been ordered for the garden in the medical practice. It will be built in February and it will become a feature and tool as the garden develops in the coming months.
St Catherine's Primary
We've started helping St Catherine's Primary to renovate the natural spaces in their playground. We'll have a group visiting the school on Fridays for a while until it's all spic and span.
Cooking cooking courses
We've started new cooking courses for adults on Wednesdays - get in touch to find out more.
