"Green Juice and Grub!" - Schools Project
Primary tabs
What would we do if we ran out of energy? Could our children help us find the solutions?
We are working with a number of P7 classes in Gilmerton/Gracemount who are taking part in “Green Juice and Grub – Fuelling out Future” which is a fun way to raise awareness amongst young people of the environmental implications of choices we make about the food we eat and the energy we use.
The project consists of three workshops running in the second half of this term. The workshops take a non-judgemental approach and aim to engage young people with ideas of world citizenship and sustainability through fun activities based around the themes of food and energy use. The activities are highly interactive and include, creating characters, science experiments, practical demonstrations, history (e.g. windmills vs. wind turbines,) fruit pressing (and tasting) and homework, which engages parents and carers in the project in an entertaining way.
The finale of the project will be on Saturday 24th of March where pupils from participating primary schools will come together with the wider community to celebrate and demonstrate what they have learnt. The event will be held at Gilmerton Community Centre.
