Switched on to Switching off (SOSO)

By EdinburghRob - Posted on 07 December 2009

Switched On to Switching Off (SOSO) is a TES Energy Working Group project funded by the Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund with the aim of engaging with and supporting the local community to reduce energy consumption, improve energy efficiency and investigate the potential for local renewable energy generation over two streets in Edinburgh.

Working closely with householders over two target streets, community members will carry out an ongoing door-to-door energy survey consisting of a motivational interview component.  This is aimed at inspiring action on energy consumption and climate issues combined with tailored energy-saving advice, support and monitoring. In addition, several households will receive detailed National Home Energy Rating certification for free, information which will feed into a feasibilty study to explore the potential for locally generated renewable energy.
