Transition Edinburgh South's Switched On to Switching Off (SOSO) Project was recently in the news!  The project was featured in an article in the Edinburgh Outlook.

The Article:

"Households in two local streets have taken part in a ground-breaking study on energy consumption, funded by the Scottish Government's Climate Challene Fund.  The grassroots community group (TES), along with Edinburgh Southside Energy Efficient Group, organised door-to-door interview with 70 residents in the tenements of Woodburn Terrace and Hope Park Terrace.  The SOSO survey looks at ways to reduce energy consumption, improve efficiency and investigate potential for local renewable energy in the streets themselves.  This is the first of a threee-phase project that aims to inspirte local people to conserve energy.  It applied the same motivational techniques used to encourage people to eat and drink less.  TES secretary Michele Hipwell said:  "We are working to identify ways to reduce energy use in tenements."
