Fruit Tree Potential!

Members of the TES food group met tonight at the Arts Complex on London Rd, to discuss how we might map, gather and freely distribute fruit from public fruit trees in South Edinburgh as well as take any surplus apples off the hands of tree owners who don't want to see them go to waste.  This would be a project inspired by the incredible success of Abundance Sheffield.

Graham Stoddart of Cuddybridge Applejuice (http://cuddybridgeapplejuice.co.uk/) in Innerleithen attended and gave some useful and inspiring advice.  He estimates that 6000 tonnes of apples drop to the ground each year in Edinburgh alone.  The problem then won't be not having enough apples - but can we deal with such a glut all at once!  So we will aim to start focussed on a small area, and see how things go!
