Bespoke 'Energy In Tenements Training' from Changeworks- book now!

As part of our Switched On to Switching Off home energy project, TES has partnered with Changeworks to offer a bespoke 'Energy in Tenements' training to our group.

This training is being developed and delivered by Gary Pearson at Changeworks, and is based on the detailed information provided by the National Home Energy Rating surveys that took place in Woodburn Terrace earlier this year.

The aim of the training is to prepare us for re-visiting householders in Woodburn Terrace and Hope Park Terrace this Autumn, enabling us to offer them further support on improving their home's energy efficiency.

The training will include a walk-through of 2 typical tenement homes, covering:

-Detailed cost & carbon savings of a wide range of energy efficiency measures possible in tenements, such as loft insulation, double glazing, draughtproofing, energy efficient light bulbs, boiler upgrades etc.-Practical information about the installation of various energy efficiency measures, incl. cost, disruption, aesthetics etc, to help volunteers answer common householder questions and concerns-Role-playing typical interview scenarios to integrate this detailed information with TES's motivational interviewing approach-Additional information on household renewables, advice for tenants, and any grants/financial incentives available.

It will take place over two evening sessions, as follows:

Session 1- Thursday 23rd September, 6-9pm @ Michele Hipwell's flat, 31 Woodburn Terrace, Morningside.Session 2- Thursday 30th September, 6-9pm (venue tbc)

There will be no charge for this training. However, priority will be given to people who carried have out interviews before and who intend to carry out follow-up visits in October/November/December 2010.
