Climate Change

Action request from Climate Chaos Scotland

A message from Gail Wilson asking YOU to help the government help all of us to stop climate chaos, please read and follow through!

Hello,Scotland’s Climate Change Act is world-leading. With a 42% reduction target by 2020, it's in line with scientists' recommendations if we want to protect people and nature from the devastating impacts of climate change.

But while we're leading the way with our Climate Act, it'll be impossible to meet our commitments if there isn't adequate funding.

TES is successful in receiving more funding from the Climate Challenge Fund. New jobs created!

For the fourth time TES has been successful in securing funding from the Scottish Government in the form of the Climate Challenge Fund (CCF). This means that we will be able to pursue some exciting new activities to support sustainable lifestyles in South Edinburgh as well as expanding some of our past activities.  TES seeks to do this by working in partnership with other local groups as well as with all local residents.

Climate Challenge Fund Community news

Over 10 millions pounds have been given to the new Scottish Government's Climate Challenge Fund (CCF2) to support low carbon community projects.  Over 140 existing projects have reapplied for funding, including TES, and over 250 new community groups have applied for funding for the first time.  At TES, we hope new funding will allow us to continue with the activities that have been initiated or supported by our two funded projects.  We will know by mid-March whether we have been successful in securing further funding.

Peak Energy, Climate Change, and the Collapse of Global Civilization: The Current Peak Oil Crisis

This report is a synthesis of the current state of knowledge on energy resources and global climate and environmental change. The findings clearly indicate that the convergence of peak energy resources and dangerous anthropogenic climate and environmental change will likely have a disastrous impact in the near- and long-term on the quantity and quality of human life on the planet (see synopsis below).

Climate Challenge Funding for the Switched on to Switching off project stage 3

The very good news is that we have just heard that our stage 3 project has been funded for £79.500.  Unfortunately we were not funded to set up an Environmental Hub. However, a proposal has been made to our group that CCF would fund an outreach worker for the community in South Edinburgh to promote sustainable living.
